The Sad Story Behind A Dead PC Game That Can’t Come Back

Definitely some bad news here, a re-release for these 2 games woulda been great.

The Sad Story Behind A Dead PC Game That Can’t Come Back

Altered Carbon

I just finished the audiobook for Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan last night and I am definitely impressed. A good detective story with memorable characters in a cyberpunk style setting and to say I liked it is a understatement. The audiobook is narrated by Todd Mclaren and I thought it was done very well.

This is another Reddit recommendation, one from the various subs I lurk on,  and every one of them so far has turned out great.

I can see why the books have been optioned for adaptation to film, it’s a good hardboiled post-cyberpunk detective story with great characters. What’s not to like there?

I liked the quotes from Quell on Harland’s World especially, they had a Frank Herbert Dune style to them. See my posted quotes for today for a sample of them.

The personal, as everyone’s so fucking fond of saying, is political. So if some idiot politician, some power player, tries to execute policies that harm you or those you care about, take it personally. Get angry. The Machinery of Justice will not serve you here – it is slow and cold, and it is theirs, hardware and soft-. Only the little people suffer at the hands of Justice; the creatures of power slide from under it with a wink and a grin. If you want justice, you will have to claw it from them. Make it personal. Do as much damage as you can. Get your message across. That way, you stand a better chance of being taken seriously next time. Of being considered dangerous. And make no mistake about this: being taken seriously, being considered dangerous marks the difference – the only difference in their eyes – between players and little people. Players they will make deals with. Little people they liquidate. And time and again they cream your liquidation, your displacement, your torture and brutal execution with the ultimate insult that it’s just business, it’s politics, it’s the way of the world, it’s a tough life and that it’s nothing personal. Well, fuck them. Make it personal.

The Long Dark is 40% off until friday February 27th.

It’s probably the most fun I’ve had playing newer game in a while. I think it’s survival focus makes it one of the best survival based games out there, and probably the only one without zombies or some other type of monsters. It’s just you vs the elements and nature. Watch out for the wolves!

It’s in early access and they are updating the game pretty regularly, the newest update adds bears, a new zone, and more crafting. The sandbox survival mode is what’s playable now. The story mode should be coming out sooner or later. Early Access games are usually hit and miss, but The Long Dark is definitely worth money and is fun to play.
