E3 was kinda underwhelming this year, aside from a few standout trailers and gameplay footage. No Final Fantasy 7 remake shown at all, no Splinter Cell, nothing on the Wolf Among Us 2, Monster Hunter World for the PC still has no real release date, and most of the really big announcements were just teaser trailers. Here are the games I’m extremely Interested in:
The Elder Scrolls VI
AKA, for the extremely uninformed and clueless, Skryim 2. For the rest of us, it’s The Elder Scrolls 6. There’s alot of speculation on where its gonna be set, with most thinking it will be set in High Rock. This is the game I’m the most interested in because it’s gonna be a single player RPG, and the Elder Scrolls series is in my top 5 gaming series. It’s just a teaser, however, it has impact because of the questionable decisions of Bethesda making a Fallout Game with multiplayer that is also PVP which also has nukes which you and friends can find codes for and then launch them on other players. I was extremely disappointed when finding out Fallout 76 is gonna be a half assed multiplayer online RPG; although, it being on dedicated servers, with no progression loss on death, with server population set to around “dozens”, and being able to play solo, is definitely addressed a few of my more glaring concerns. So I’m still kinda interested in how it will play out. Here is the trailer of Fallout 76. I’ll definitely buy ANY Elder Scrolls game on launch, but Fallout 76 is gonna be one I’ll probably wait and see before I buy.
Doom 2015 was a really, really good game with extremely good visuals that could/can run extremely well on any kind of hardware, very smooth gameplay, excellent music, great level design, and an underrated story that provided some excellent lore. Doom Eternal is the sequel, and although it’s just a teaser, I’m fucking hyped for this game, it will be definitely one I pick up on launch.
Excellent trailer, I finished up the 2 Metro games, and the Metro trilogy audiobooks, early this year and the games, as well as the audiobooks, were very good. Metro Exodus will be based on the third book in the Metro Trilogy and this is just something I want to play. The story, characters, and gameplay that does stealth as well as combat well are reasons that I like the metro games. And the gameplay trailer looks like it will continue have those elements. I will also, probably, pick this one up next year when it’s released.
This is the next game by CD Projekt Red, and it goes without question that this is gonna be a game I pick up at launch/release just because of how well they do games, gameplay, story and characters.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
The last 2 tomb raider games looked and played very well, Shadow of the Tomb Raider looks to continue on with that. Definitely gonna check this one out.
The Division 2
I put a lot of time into the Division, 372 hours, so it’s a game I enjoyed playing and one that did a decent job of implementing coop/multiplayer as well as including a pvp element (although very poorly implemented at first, then improved later to something passable.) I think the raids are a bad idea but I’m not exactly a social person. I thought the 4 player groups were pretty much perfect for missions. Hopefully, The Division 2 will be just as good as the Division was. I will probably pick this up but I also may just wait on it as well.
Skull and Bones
This was very impressive, looks like they pulled the best parts of the ship combat from Assassin’s Creed Black Flag and Rogue and made an extremely cool looking game out of it. I will definitely be keeping track of this one.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Not too far off the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins, a well received game that I still haven’t pick up yet but still plan to, is another Assassin’s Creed game. Ubisoft is assuring people that the Assassin’s Creed games are not going back to annual releases. Odyssey looks impressive, and is gonna have 2 characters to choose from to start and experience the game with. Looks extremely promising, I will definitely keep an eye on this game.
The Last of Us Part 2
Out of all the reveals this e3, this one was the most impressive and appealing. The trailer speaks for itself in terms of story telling and gameplay. If you haven’t played the first one, get a PS4 or a PS4 Pro and pick up the Last of Us remastered and fucking play it.
The Ghost of Tsushima
A game with Samurai and Mongols? FUCK YEAH.
One to keep an eye on, I still need to pick up the first one on steam.
